The Angel Fund
The Angel Fund is an independent nonprofit charity benefiting ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) research at the Cecil B. Day Laboratory for Neuromuscular Research at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester. 
Recently, Dr. Robert H. Brown Jr, and the Day Neuromuscular Research Lab at UMASS Medical have seen significant accomplishments in their program to discover new ALS genes.  They have reported finding two new genes whose mutations cause familial ALS and are internaionally recognized for their work  in the fight agains this devastating disease.

ALS (or Lou Gherig’s disease) is a fatal neuro-degenerative disease characterized by muscle weakness and a progressive wasting and paralysis of the muscles. There is no known cure for ALS, and death usually results from respiratory failure in 2 to 5 years.
