On May 18th I will be in Boston “running” for the 23d time in the Harpoon 5-Miler race. As many of you know the race helps raise funds for the Angel Fund and ALS Research. Last year we knocked it out of the brewery and raised $5,610 from 54 donors. That was the most for an Individual Fundraiser again! I want to also thank Harpoon and Nicole Sawyer for the race and their generosity. They gave out a bunch of great swag to donors of $50 or more and overall Harpoon raised more than $177,000 which is awesome. (Harpoon also gave us a complimentary night at the brewery tasting room!)

Every year I am touched by personal stories on how this disease has affected friends and families of people I know. In 2013 a friend at Raytheon, Egide Houndegla was diagnosed with ALS. That year we got T-shirts made up with his name on it and 6 of us ran. We sent him post race pictures of the team that made him smile. Sadly Egide lost his battle to the disease soon after.

On May 18th I will be wearing that same shirt and running for Egide, as well as friends and family members that have been affected.
