What if I can't run on race day? Can I get a refund or transfer my registration to someone else?
Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please know that your race fee is going to an amazing cause.
Wait, I don't get it. What does it mean that registration is first come, first served?
It's pretty simple: Harpoon only has 5,000 spots in the race. They spots will be given to the first 5,000 people who register. When the race is full, it's full.
Can I run as part of a team?
Yes! You can run in teams of 4, called 4-pack teams. Find out all about them here.
Will there be a waitlist?
No, we do not keep a waitlist for this race. So make sure you're one of the first people to register when registration goes live.
Is there a bag check at the race?
Yes! If you bring a bag with you on race day, you will have the option to drop your bag at our race day bag drop. (It’s free, but a suggested donation of $1 to The Angel Fund is encouraged!)
How should I get to the race? Where should I park?
Find out all about transportation and parking options here.
Can I run with a stroller?
The Harpoon 5-Miler is USA Track and Field sanctioned, so we have to play by their rules. That means strollers and jogging strollers are not permitted. You'll have to brave the 5 miles solo, without your little ones.
In the interest of space, strollers are also not permitted in the event space after the race. Your partners and little ones can join you to celebrate your success after the race-- you'll just need to leave the strollers in the car or at home.
You are welcome to join the virtual 5-Miler and run with a stroller on your own.
Can I run with my dog?
The Harpoon 5-Miler is USA Track and Field sanctioned, which means that pets are not permitted to join us along the way. After the race, for safety and space restrictions, we do not allow dogs into the post-race event space.
But, you can run with your dog for the virtual race or if you want to plan ahead for our Harpoon Dogtoberfest in October where dogs are welcome!
Can my friends and family join me at the finish line?
We love when friends and family join us on race day-- they are absolutely invited to come watch and cheer you on! We just ask that they make some sort of small contribution to The Angel Fund if they're going to come enjoy the party. This could be anything from donating to your personal fundraising campaign, to tipping their bartenders, to buying raffle tickets for some sweet prizes at The Angel Fund tent.
Is there a minimum time I have to be able to run to participate?
The race is open to all runners; however, keep in mind that we begin to break down the race course around 11 AM, so we do not encourage walkers.
When is the rain date?
There is no rain date. The Harpoon 5-Miler is RAIN OR SHINE.
I can't drink beer. Will other options be available?
Yes! There will Arctic Chill hard seltzer and hard cider available on race day.
Will there be any non-alcoholic drinks?
We will have water and some non-alcoholic beer available for those who do not drink.
What is a virtual run?
Our version of a virtual run is an event that can be completed from any location you choose. You can run, jog, handcycle, pushrim, walk, etc. You can do this on the sidewalk, on a track, on a treadmill or on a trail. A virtual race provides the flexibility to complete your miles your way, at your own pace, and time it yourself.
Where should I run? What’s the course?
There is no set course, make your own and have fun with it! Please note, this does not mean that you can run at Harpoon Brewery on race day. This means that you can run virtually anywhere other than the in-person 5-Miler on the 22nd.
Will this race be timed?
No, not officially. You can complete the 5 miles at your own pace, and time yourself. You will be able to upload your times, but we are not tracking times for awards. Since everyone will run/walk on a different route, with varying elevation and terrain, we are not giving out awards based on fastest times for the virtual participants.
How do I post my results to prove that I completed the race?
Go to the results tab at the top of the race page or click this link (you will also receive an email with this information on race morning!). Results reporting is based on an honor system. We would love for you to post your time so we can give you a virtual high-five, but since everyone will be running on different courses, we will not be giving out awards for fastest times.
Do I have to be over 21 years old to participate in the race?
No, the virtual 5-miler is open to people of all ages. You must be 21+ to register for the in-person 5-Miler since that level includes beer. If you are under 21 years old, please feel free to sign up for virtual race, where all ages are welcome. However, if you are under the age of 18, we do need your parent to sign a waiver.
